The article analyzes the content of the first (single) issue Phoenix, a magazine of esoteric philosophy published in 1937. Its selection of philosophic and literary works was (co)edited by Wacław Liwski, an esotericist and popularizer of the theosophical thought of Helena Roerich. Liwski is linked by some with the novelist Władysław Reymont.
The article examines the trends in social communication in Poland in 1980–1981. Having analyzed multiple sources and research studies, the author comes to the conclusion that in this watershed period in Polish postwar history was characterized not only by stricter control of the official information channels but also a grassroot pushback manifested in the rise of uncensored bulletins, leaflets and propaganda posters.

This article contains a bibliometric analysis and an overview of the lifetime achievement of Jerzy Leonard Myśliński (1934–2022). He authored 287 academic publications devoted mostly to media history (81%), including 25 monographs, 30 studies published in collective works, and more than 232 articles and reviews. A citation analysis of his contributions shows that Jerzy Leonard Myśliński ranks as one of the most highly cited historians of the Polish press in 1960–2010.
The purpose of the article is to analyze the impact of local press on social capital. A content analysis of Gazeta Lipnicka, a newspaper published between 1997 and 2016 in Bielsko-Biała by the Lipnik Association, is used to examine its communicative and integrative role in the local community.

Artykuł przedstawia kulisy powstania tygodnika „Wola Ludu”, organu naczelnego PSL „Piast” wydawanego w Warszawie w latach 1921–1931. Założenie pisma wynikało z walk frakcyjnych wewnątrz stronnictwa między grupami Macieja Rataja, Jana Dąbskiego oraz Wincentego Witosa. Chociaż periodyk stanowił jedno z głównych pism PSL „Piast”, dotychczas nie doczekał się szczegółowych badań naukowych. W ramach pisania artykułu została przeprowadzona szeroka kwerenda źródłowa oparta głownie na pamiętnikach i wspomnie-niach działaczy ludowych, a także analiza prasoznawcza wraz z zaprezentowaniem periodyku na tle innych organów prasowych PSL „Piast”.
This article discusses the theatre section in Gazeta Żydowska published under the control of the occupation authorities in the Generalgouvernement in 1940–1942. The paper focused first of all on theatres in the Warsaw ghetto. The news and reviews were to create the impression that Jewish culture was flourishing and the situation in ghetto was normalizing as the residents were adapting to the new conditions.
This article discusses the anti-Czech plebiscite propa-ganda in the press of Cieszyn Silesia (Těšínské Slezsko), focusing on the successive issues of the Republika, a local Polish-language weekly, published between January and May 1920. The analysis shows that Republika's radical language and multiple articles aimed at discrediting Czechoslovakia and the Czech nation turned it into a potent instruments of pro-Polish agitation on the eve of the plebiscite (which was eventually cancelled).
This article deals with a debate in the pages of the interwar press over a memorial landscape park opened in 1932 at Żelazowa Wola, the birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin. Designed by Franciszek Krzywda- Polkowski, the park provoked a flood of opinions and commentaries from contemporary cultural luminaries. The discussions raged mostly in literary periodicals as well as popular newspapers and magazines. The article attempts to reconstruct the narrative patterns of the debate around its two poles, represented by the admirers and opponents of Krzywda-Polkowski's innovative design.

Redaktorem naczelnym jest Joanna Chądzyńska. Periodyk spełnia funkcje: informacyjną, edukacyjną, terapeutyczną, kulturotwórczą oraz integracyjną.
This article looks at press studies of the newspapers and periodicals that have been published in Zielona Góra, beginning with the pre-1945 Grünberger Wochenblatt. A turning point in the history of the region's press studies was the publication in 2000 of Andrzej K. Piasecki's monograph Lubuska czwarta władza (Zielona Góra's Fourth Estate); it was followed by a historical survey of the press of the Gorzów Wielkopolski subregion by Krzysztof Wasilewski. While research is coordinated by the Cyrian Norwid Library (among others a co-sponsor of a volume titled Oblicza prasy Ziem Zachodnich 1945–2012), the periodical Zielonogórskie Studia Bibliotekoznawcze provides a platform for new work. The latest publication in the field is Jolanta Chwastyk-Kowalczyk's monograph Pro Libris. Czasopismo Literacko-Kulturalne; a study of the newspaper Gazeta Nowa is in progress.
W artykule scharakteryzowano ukazujący się w Czes-kim Cieszynie w latach 1935–1938 dwutygodnik „Ogniwo” — czasopismo Zrzeszenia Organizacji Młodzieży Polskiej w Czechosłowacji. Przedstawiono wyniki analizy ilościowej i jakościowej czasopisma. Omówiono genezę, układ oraz główne tematy poruszane na łamach dwutygodnika, takie jak: historia, kultura, zwłaszcza literacka; regionalizm; krajoznawstwo, harcerstwo, sport, teatr, poradnictwo. Opisano również funkcję czasopisma.
This article examines the history of periodicals which have been published in Sandomierz, or had an ongoing interest in the town, since 1816, when the first publication of this kind went into print. Apart from the Polish segment, the article covers periodicals in Latin, German, English, Russian and Dutch. So far c. 230 items on wide range of themes have been sourced to Sandomierz.
After the fall of the Polish-Lituanian Commonwealth, Prince Adam Kazimierz Czartoryski was involved in a number of activities in the field of culture, literature and education. This article explores his activities with regard to the contemporary press market. Adam Czartoryski, Governor (starosta generalny) of Podolia, was (behind the scenes) a promoter and coordinator of initiatives to set up quality periodicals in Wilno (Gazeta Literacka Wileńska, and also the daily Dziennik Wileński), Warsaw (Pamiętnik Warszawski) and Lwów (Pamiętnik Lwowski).
